Abstract

High entropy alloys are multicomponent alloys, which have a large number of constituting elements in equiatomic or nearly equiatomic concentrations. The diffusion kinetics in CoCrFeMnNi alloys is investigated by a combination of radiotracer and diffusion couple techniques in a way that the composition dependencies of the tracer diffusion coefficients of ⁶³Ni, ⁵¹Cr, ⁵⁷Co, ⁵⁹Fe and ⁵⁴Mn are determined. The both types of concentration profiles are simulated using a CALPHAD-type description. The components are characterized by significantly different diffusion rates, with Mn being the fastest elements and Ni and Co being the slowest ones.
