Abstract

Abstract: The article looks at dialogism, a term derived from the Russian thinker Mikhail Bakhtin, as the constitutive moment in Sylvie Richterová's Slabikář otcovského jazyka. The fragmentary prose trilogy, which is comprised of narrative passages and reflections, considers questions of human existence in the widest sense. No simple or uniform solutions are offered to answer the variety of questions raised, rather a multitude of possible solutions are attempted, which also recall the traditional models of sense and identity (for example childhood memories or relating oneself to concrete things). Structurally these attempted answers are connected by the interference of figures and leitmotiv-words, whereby various new relations of sense arise. So the text develops and practises an open flexible model of sense, which the reader in collaboration may redesign in an ever new and individual way. This model can - with some modifications of the Bachtinian understanding of the term - be called dialogic. [Quelle: https://www.jstor.org/stable/42709808]
