Basic data for this project

Type of project: Own resources project
Duration: 01/04/2010 - 30/09/2015

Description

Evaluating the performance of similarity algorithms for the purpose of content-based retrieval and analysis is a highly empirical discipline. The algorithms’ complex inner workings and internal factors are often difficult to research by analytical means and the algorithms’ empirical performance is frequently assessed based on benchmark databases. The objective of this research project is to study the performance of state-of-the-art approaches with respect to their qualities of effectiveness and efficiency and to derive new insight into the specific methods in order to guide the development of content-based retrieval and analysis applications for various domains.
