Zusammenfassung

International rule-governed activity also includes nonstate actors on thenational as well as on the international and transnational levels. Thischapter first discusses the relationship between educational governance andregime theory, then some observations on the theoretical perspective andthe analytical categories are outlined. Second, a concise discussion ofregime theory is presented and a definition of an emerging internationaleducation regime (IER) is elaborated, including some of the key elementsand features that illustrate the adopted theoretical framework. Third, thechapter addresses some methodological questions and presents one possibleresearch design to discuss empirical implications of an emerging IER.
