Forschungsartikel (Zeitschrift) | Peer reviewedThe article pursues two goals. First, I discuss the potentials of a time-theoretical reflection on various concepts of historical culture. Up to now, historical culture has often appeared as a mode of societal or collective interaction with the past, as if this past was already given and did not have to be expected and designed like any future. In the context of this time-theoretical reflection, I ask to what extent common metaphors for describing the connection between historical culture and historical consciousness need to be revised, especially if one takes into account that these phenomena follow completely different temporal rhythms. Secondly, based on selected examples, the aim of the article is to present for discussion a typology of historical-cultural practices of dealing with time differences.
