Forschungsartikel (Zeitschrift) | Peer reviewedIn 2011 and 2012, the carabid fauna of ten dry grasslands in the urban area of Berlin was assessed by pitfall trapping. In all, 54 species – including 10 endangered species – were recorded. Cicindela sylvatica LINNAEUS, 1758, Cymindis macularis FISCHER VON WALDHEIM, 1824, Harpalus melancholicus DEJEAN, 1829 and Zabrus tenebrioides (GOEZE, 1777) are highly endangered. The results of the present study emphasise the importance of urban dry grasslands for species conservation. However, further biodiversity surveys of dry ecosystems of Berlin are necessary to assess the current conservation status of these highly endangered habitats and to develop effective habitat management strategies.
