Zusammenfassung

Verschiedene Fachvertreter der deutschsprachigen Erziehungswissenschaft vertreten die These, der amerikanische Pragmatismus sei so etwas wie die Hintergrundphilosophie von PISA. Der Beitrag untersucht die Plausibilität dieses Deutungsmusters, indem er der Bildungstheorie, Bildungsforschung und Bildungspolitik im Kontext von PISA jeweils ein Kernkonzept zuweist - literacy, Kompetenz, Standards - und diese Konzepte dann aus der Perspektive von John Deweys pragmatistischer Pädagogik betrachtet. Es wird gezeigt, dass der philosophische Pragmatismus auf anderen Denkvoraussetzungen beruht und daher Dewey als Gewährsmann für die Bildungsreform im Kontext von PISA ungeeignet ist. (DIPF/Orig.).; Several scholars in the German-speaking educational research community hold the view that American pragmatism can be regarded as the philosophical background of PISA. This paper examines the plausibility of this view first by pointing out the core-concepts of educational theory, research and policy in the context of PISA - i.e. literacy, competence, standards - and second by discussing these concepts from the perspective of DEWEY' s pragmatism. It is shown that DEWEY'S pragmatism rests on different theoretical background assumptions and thus can not be regarded as an appropriate source for the philosophical foundation of educational reform in the era of PISA.
