Redox Catalysis Through Masked Acyl Radicals with NHCs and Beyond

Basic data for this project

Type of project: Individual project
Duration: 01/03/2027 - 28/02/2030 | 2nd Funding period

Description

The extension proposal is directed toward the development of new synthetic methodologies based on cooperative NHC/photoredox catalysis. It is suggested that incorporating an additional transition metal cocatalyst could broaden the substrate scope in the intensively studied area of cooperative radical NHC catalysis. A focus will lie on reductive radical cross coupling reactions. The proposed novel strategy should also pave the way for new approaches to enantioselective radical NHC catalysis. Furthermore, alternative ketyl radical precursors are proposed that can serve as bifunctional reagents in photoredox-catalyzed radical coupling processes. These reagents are expected to further expand the repertoire of methods available for stereoselective radical coupling reactions. Finally, the development of methods for achieving regio- and diastereoselective radical C-H aroylation through cooperative photoredox/NHC catalysis in complex natural products will be pursued.
